Rihanna is desperate to see Chris at the Sept. 6 ceremony in Los Angeles, sources close to the singer tells EXCLUSIVELY. Do YOU think he will make a surprise appearance?

Rihanna and Chris Brown have a twisted romance, but now the sultry singer is asking her ex-boyfriend to come see her at the MTV Video Music Awards!

Rihanna, 24, let Chris, 23, know that she wanted to see him at the event.

“Rihanna, once again, texted Chris last night and asked,’What’s the deal, ni**a? You coming or not?,’” a source close to the singer says. “He hasn’t responded.”

We recently spoke with Chris’ rep, who told us Chris would not be able to attend the ceremony due to “another commitment.” That said, our sources tell us he’s hoping to potentially attend one of the afterparties — and maybe even see Rihanna there!

“If he’s in Los Angeles he will go to some party,” our source said. “He can’t stay in his Hollywood crib knowing a party is right down the street. He’s going out if there’s a afterparty in Hollywood or something. We all want him to go because it will be good for him.”

Rihanna recently spoke to Oprah Winfrey about her complicated relationship with Chris. “I think he was the love of my life. He was the first love and I see that he loved me the same way. We were very young and very spontaneous. We ran free. We ran wild. We were falling in love going in at a really rapid pace and we forgot about ourselves as individuals.”

Chris Brown and Rihanna were reportedly kissing in “plain sight of other partygoers” while boating in St. Tropez, France on Sunday July 22!

Chris and Rihanna certainly aren’t hiding their alleged affair while on international waters! A source on the yacht of Malaysian billionaire Taek Jho Low says Rihanna and Chris were caught kissing. They added, “It was a very private party on a yacht, so they were not worried.”

And this isn’t the first time that the former lovers have reportedly reconnected while in St. Tropez!

Page Six reported the former couple was spotted on billionaire Yuri Shefler’s $300 million yacht this past weekend, and they spent the whole time talking and reconnecting! “There were clearly sparks flying between [them],” says one eyewitness, adding that “they seemed happy to be together.”

So where are the photos? A source close to Chris tells HollywoodLife.com exclusively that Chris and Rihanna know how to reconnect without getting their photograph taken! Our source says, “I don’t think they’re going to be photographed together. All his boys are tight and we on that sneaking photo s–t and giving it to y’all. We don’t roll like that. It’s one thing to tell you this and that every now and then, but ain’t no photo s–t poppin’ off. I don’t know about Rihanna’s girls and what not, but I’m speaking on Chris’ side. Feel me? Our source says, “Man, I keep telling you Chris ain’t really concerned about Karrueche’s feelings. She know what time it is and she in line with the s–t. He’s Chris Brown.
